The Pagoda
Welcome to the Pagoda!
A consistent team of teachers provide a stimulating, adaptable, child initiated learning environment at The Pagoda. From November 2020 we have introduced 20 hours ECE at The Pagoda.
ERO Report 2023: 'Well-resourced learning spaces encourage exploration and participation within a calm and settled environment.'
While the endorsement of children's own individual interests and ideas are still paramount, the teachers provide opportunities for group work. This focuses on fostering the development of confidence, perseverance and responsibility, allowing children to practice communication and self- help skills.
ERO Report 2023: 'Strong and reciprocal relationships between teachers, children and their families support the enactment of the centre's values.'
"Koru Club" includes these features, as well as aiming to initiate more in-depth preparation for school. It offers some work with books, reading, numbers and print. All children who attend the Pagoda are exposed to a rich environment of literacy and numeracy on a regular basis.
We have developed strong relationships with local schools and enjoy regular familiarizing visits to new entrants' classrooms.
Our past involvement in an MOE based ICT research program has lead us to explore ways in which ICT can be used effectively within an Early Childhood learning environment. Therefore, some of our interactions and documentation have expanded to incorporate a range of multimedia.
